We are already in February and Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! Are you a Valentine kind of person?
Mr B and I never celebrated it until we had the boys and they became aware of the day. We are just not very romantic. Now we have a “family date”, exchange cards and have breakfast in bed, all together. It’s lovely. The boys call it Love Day, and for us, that is exactly what it is.
Whichever way you celebrate, on your own, with your partner, in family, with friends… t is always nice to have some inspiration for the day.
VALENTINE’S DAY DECORATION
If you like embracing Valentines Day to the fullest and go all out decorating your home, this balloon arch is just super cute and it can be used from breakfast bar to cocktail bar as the day evolves…
I. Am. Totally. In.Love. With. This. Chandelier. I just have to make it.
And what about these love-heart garlands? Easy to make and ever so adorable!
VALENTINE’S DAY PRINTABLES
If you are too busy to make anything, or you are feeling lazy, or just not feeling at all, there are some amazing free printables that you could use to decorate your home and get you in the mood.
VALENTINE’S DAY FOOD
Now, if you are traditional and you are planning a Valentine’s romantic dinner, this caprese salad as a starter would be only delightful, delicious and super romantic!
An antipasto platter is totally down my alley and it means no cooking for anyone… It doesn’t get any better than this!
Or if you want to something a little bit more special, you could have the seafood option.
And I believe that tradition dictates that chocolate must be had for dessert in Valentine’s Day, right? This walnut and chocolate cake is just the perfect treat, don’t you think?
So, whether you are having a quiet one, a by yourself one, a family one or a romantic night, I hope you are now inspired to make the day a little bit special. For you at least. Because you deserve it!
Have an amazing weekend!

As I mentioned recently, I moved every bed in my house before Christmas. I just woke up one morning and I had to do it.
The boys had been sharing a room since they were born but for different reasons (that will soon be revealed to you), the boys had to be separated and they now have their very own bedroom.
I have always tried to decorate their bedroom and playroom with different colors. I never liked the blue with soccer balls kind of decorations for the boy’s room. It is not them. It is not us.
As now I get to decorate 2 bedrooms, I have to take into consideration their ages, their tastes and their needs for their individual rooms, always within budget which means recycle, up-cycle, inherit, beg…. the usual!
For BIG MONKEY’S ROOM (age 8) I will need a nice desk to keep up with his drawing
And some shelving will also be neccesary for books and general stuff that they seem to get…
These walls are just gorgeous. Fun but sensible… right?
The bed is priority. It needs to be comfortable and inviting, not only to sleep but also to grab a book and read for a while.
Their little feet need to be warm, but stylish also… of course!
As for CHAOTIC MONKEY’S ROOM(age 6) I will also need some storage and this one looks not only affordable but fun!
I am totally in love with that Fantastic Mr Fox print and that rug here. Just. In. Love.
This kind of wall decoration is so Chaotic Monkey, it is scary.
There is so much I would take from here. From the cushions, to the wall, to the bed… so much…
How cool would it be to have this seat in your room? I mean Chaotic Monkey’s room… yes, that’s what I mean…
Food for thought.
I will be working hard at making those spaces as amazing, relaxing and inspiring as I can.
What about you?
Are you inspired yet?
Have an amazing weekend.

Our kitchen is getting a face-lift soon. I am so excited!
When we moved to our house, our kitchen was pine. Pretty much everything was pine in the house, so no surprise there, but the pine in the kitchen made the space look very dark and oppressive so Mr B and I painted it white which helped us survive in it for the last 4 years.
The problem with the kitchen was not only the color, but the space did not work. At all. You have heart about the concept of the “kitchen triangle”? Well, the people who designed my kitchen had never heard of it. Or the kitchen square. I think for the it was more like a game of tetris – this fits here, it goes there then. Seriously, really bad.
But not worry, the end is in sight and we are going to have a kitchen that works, a simple, bright and practical kitchen. And a big fridge. I can’t tell you how excited I am about hsving a big fridge. We currently have an under counter fridge that freezes everything at the back, has no light and I hate… (breaths heavily into a paper bag…).
Everything has been planned, from tiles to units. The only thing left to choose is the lighting… So many options….
On one hand, I love the INDUSTRIAL VIBE…
Although there is something pretty warm about VINTAGE LIGHTING.
But sometimes I think I should go totally with MODERN LIGHTING, because I am a modern kind of girl, you know…
Or I could also go with all NATURAL MATERIALS for warmth.
So many options, so many beautiful lights…
I will let you know what lighting we choose when it is all done. I am excited. I am so excited to the idea of having a functioning kitchen. And a new one at that. Yay and double yay!!!

My kids love having pijama’s days. To be honest, I don’t know where they got that from as both Mr B and I are totally presentable in the morning. I mean, fully showered, fully dressed and even some makeup on… it is important to be presentable for breakfast, to start the day prepared… yeah, right… there is nothing better than breakfast in pijamas and messy hair (this last detail doesn’t seem to be optional… my hair is just crazy in the mornings).
The weather has just turned and the cold seems to be here to stay. We are officially entering into pijama’s season. That time of the year where the kind of pijamas you are wearing will determine the day you will have. Ok, I might have taken it too far but you know what I mean…
For a lazy day watching TV by the fire, animal onesies are a must.
You can get them for the entire family!
Now, these pijamas might prove uncomfortable in bed, with their tails and ears, so a sexier onesie (because there is totally such a thing, right?).
But in fairness, bed is not just for lazing around., I also like to read in it – snuggled under the blanket, kindle in hand and loads and loads of coffee.
Just because you are in pijamas it doesn’t mean that you can not be stylish
Whatever style you’d prefer, enjoy your lazy day, put your feet up, cuddle up and embrace the chaos.
I don’t know if it’s just me but as winter closes in, cold gets sharper and the days are getting shorter, I find it harder and harder to get out of bed in the morning. Don’t tell me I am on my own here… Who likes to get out of bed in a cold morning?
Although staying in bed is not an option during weekdays, we always try to linger in bed that little bit longer at weekends. We have been know for having family breakfasts in bed and snuggling up in wet cold afternoons while watching The Princes Bride.
The thing is that these family events require big and amazing beds. And I am not only talking about big beds, they also need to be inviting, comfortable and cosy.
This bed is just big enough for all of us and I love all the pillows and the layers… so inviting!
There is something very dreamy about this bed. (source)
I love cast iron beds, painted or otherwise. There is something very romantic and traditional about them. (source)
Big beds in small spaces have to be inviting and it looks like we could camp in this one for a good while!
And of course, a four poster bed is the ultimate luxury when it comes to beds. I would love to just close those curtains and sleep off until Spring!
