My gallery wall is finished and I am very happy with the result. The longest part of the process for me was choosing the color scheme and the prints to get the mood I wanted for the stairs. I wanted something subtle, soothing, cheerful and fresh. Once I got that sorted, the process went very fast as I couldn’t wait to see the end product. The prints are very lighthearted full of love and joy. The main part of the gallery welcomes us in the morning as we do downstairs for breakfast and, no matter how grey or wet the day is, we all go down smiling and looking at the prints. I have deliberately not gone for a pattern when hanging the frames. I didn’t want something too regimented. I like the idea of being able to add more bits and pieces to the wall in an organic way. I also had to work with the hooks that were already on the wall, which limited the creativity in some parts of the wall. I am delighted with the result.
What do you think?
This week we are enjoying our first mid-term break and some quality time with the Scottish cousins that are over for the break. As the boys don’t have any cousins in the country (they have them in Australia, Spain and Scotland), whenever we are together, we always make a huge effort to hang out as much as possible which involves plenty of sleepovers, big messes, constant cooking and loads of tea and coffee.
We are also planning a Halloween party for Saturday. This party is also an excuse to celebrate all the kid’s birthdays as we haven’t managed to be together for any of them. The kids are very excited. We are trying to make decorations to have the house ready and that is where the marvelous artists that offer their prints for free in the world-wide web come to the rescue once again and not for the last time.
These free printables will make your house look amazingly spooky and stylish for your Halloween party.
I am of the opinion that a gallery walls makes a house feel homier. I think it is because every gallery wall is different, with different frames, different layout, different color schemes, different prints… and all these choices make the space more personal, homier, and homier is right down my street.
I am thinking of getting a gallery wall of my own, on the stairs. I currently have few photos hanging but I want something bigger, with a big more impact.
With this in mind, I have been looking around the web looking for prints that would suit my space and I am in awe of the amazing talent that is out there and ever so grateful that those talented artists are willing to share it with the world for free. Thank you.
After a busy enough week, I am planning a relaxed weekend with some walks, some cooking, maybe some crafting, some friends and some films.
This is what cut my eye this week around the web.
Does this sound familiar? Maybe I need a new family, one that runs….
