Mr B and I love watching films, from action movies, to comedies, to dramas. Unfortunately we don’t get to go to the cinema that often but we would either rent a film or watch it in Netflix at least once a week.
Over the years we have noticed that most films have a line in them that will make you laugh because it is so good, so funny or even that bad that sums up the film. Those are the lines that Mr B and I tend to remember from the film and we found ourselves quoting those lines time and time again but a couple of years ago we decided to take it a bit further and make a game out of it.
The game is simple: you need to work the line into a normal conversation with a third party. This seems like an easy task when you have lines like “Be that as it may” from Ice Age.
but when you have more risky lines like “You are good with your instruments” from Date Night
more challenging like “I can’t wait to meet my second wife(husband). I hope she likes me better that this one” from This is 40.
or elaborate like “But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you” from Taken
In it in these instances when the game becomes a challenge and we get competitive.
The only rules of this game are that the lines need to be worked in to a conversation in an organic way and they need to be delivered with a straight face. It is so funny to see people’s reactions. Most people tend to recognise the sentences, which is fun. Sometimes, however, you are left with a very puzzled person in front of you, trying to act normal.
It is a childish game, it may even be silly, but we love it.
