ANY MINUTE NOW…

I need to put away the summer clothes … any minute now…
I need to organise the utility room… any minute now…
I need to de-clutter the drawers in my room … any minute now…
I need to paint the radiator in Big Monkey’s room … any minute now…

And don’t start me on all the furniture that I need to paint, all those recipes that I want to taste and all the project that I want to finish… and start…

I’ll get to them any minute now…

ANY MINUTE NOW... @ Organising Chaos Blog
But I can’t!

I’m too tired. Unmotivated. Struggling to find the energy to get to all those projects.

I have so many plans. So many things I want to do. But I don’t seem to find the will to do them.

ANY MINUTE NOW...

Why is it? Is it a September thing? Am I on my own?

I need a kick in the bum! Will you be please do the honors?

WEEKLY INSPIRATION : SEASIDE BASICS

Tomorrow is my favorite day of the year:  the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year and the official beginning of the summer in the Northern Hemisphere (insert ridiculous yet adorable happy dance here!).

Summer is undoubtedly my favorite season and the only season where I make a point of not wearing tights under my skirts (although sometimes leggings are necessary, but they are NOT tights!).

The boys have less than 2 weeks left of school and most of the conversations are about the much-anticipated and needed summer holidays. Most of people tend to look for sunny places to visit. A mixture of relaxation and things to do. Trying to achieve the perfect balance: having nothing to do so you can relax by the sea while at the same time having things to see and discover.

We will, as usual, be going to Spain for a couple of weeks in August. We can’t wait! We love it there. And I have already been dreaming of my seaside basics for this summer…

CHIA SEED & COCONUT OIL EXFOLIATING SCRUB

Make your own Chia Seed Facial Scrub - Organising Chaos Blog

Over a year ago, I started making my own beauty products and they have been so amazing, my skin has been feeling so amazing, that I won’t look back.

Last year I made a couple of scrubs: a vanilla lip scrub and an oatmeal facial scrub. I have been using both a lot. The lip scrub was mostly used in autumn and winter when the combination of the heating being on and the cold outside leaves my lips feeling like paper sand. It is handy having the lip scrub handy and ready to use. A quick scrub, some Vaseline and as good as new.Home-made Oatmeal Facial Scrub - OrganisingChaosBlog

The oatmeal facial scrub has also been working its magic. It leaves your skin so ridiculously soft and smooth but, let’s face it, it was messy. The shower, the sink… they looked like half of my face had just fallen off, so I have been looking for a scrub as effective but a bit less messy, and I believe I have found it!

For this scrub I decided to use to coconut oil rather than olive oil (don’t tell my family in Spain! They might take away my passport!). We all know how amazing coconut oil so I took a some from Mr B’s stash to make the face scrub.

You will need:
1/4 cup coconut oil
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon chia seeds

  • Mix the ingredients together and store in a clean jar.
  • To use, dampen face and apply scrub in a circular motion to damp face.
  • Allow the mixture to set for two minutes before using a wet washcloth to remove.
  • Splash cold water on your face when you’ve finished.
  • Store in fridge for 3-5 days

I love using it just after the shower. My face feels amazing and it makes me feel like a million dollars! Make your own Chia Seed Facial Scrub - Organising Chaos Blog

GOODBYE JANUARY & HELLO FEBRUARY

Happy February lovely people! Wow! January went fast, didn’t it?

January can be a tough month to get through. We tend to have little cash in our pockets, we are exhausted from the Christmas parties and get togethers, the weather is getting colder… Even the children feel it! Chaotic Monkey told me yesterday that he was very tired because we had too many parties in Spain over Christmas. Life is tough when you are 6, for sure!

I have to say that this month was ok for me. It took me a good while to get back into the swing of things. Back into the routine, the organised meals, the timetables… everything. It was the same after the summer holidays. I think I am just so good at being on holidays that my whole self fights going back to reality. So, if you ever hear of a job that requires being on holidays and relaxed, please make sure to let me know… please….

Last month on the blog, I shared my new approach to the tidying conflict in my house. I have to say it is working a treat. The idea of the toys being confiscated or in “time out”, as they call it, for few days is a great incentive to get things going before going to bed without an argument. If I had only known this before… Have you tried it yet?

I also talked about being a blanket person and how to cheer up a plain blanket with simple pompoms. By the way, I can’t stop making pompoms. I find it so soothing and therapeutic. Also, I am trying to stop biting my nails so it helps having my hands busy on the couch 😉

I also shared tips on how to keep the cables tidy around the house, and 3 different uses for paint brushes that should help you make your life easier. Have you tried any of them yet?

I am delighted with my personalized sign crowning my stair gallery. I love that it means something to us and that it is now part of our home. There will be fights as to who gets it on the will, I just know it… 😉

My January plant smells so delicious that I would love to have one in every room. As that is not going to happen, it will have to move with me from room to room until at least Spring has arrived.

And this month as we get closer to my kitchen renovation date (insert happy dance here!) I needed inspiration in the kitchen lighting department, and also some inspiration was needed to decorate the boy’s rooms according to their age and needs. I will be copying some of the ideas for sure.

So goodbye January. It was lovely to have you but glad that you are gone. We are now a month closer to Spring. A month closer to Summer.

I have a gut feeling that February will be kind to us. What do you think?
